Of Course We Dressed Up Like Cowboys To Watch The Movie “Young Guns”

So, we’ve been at this whole blogging and Achievement thing for about ten years, and it’s kind of a challenge to come up with 101 different things to try each year. It’s not 101 fresh and new ones every year; anything we didn’t complete the previous year rolls over, and we do have a few regular Achievements that we repeat each year. But sometimes, we’re down to the wire of the new year, sitting at the Squirrel Cage over a basket of hot balls and a planner, and one of us turns to the other and says something like,

“Hey. Why don’t we dress up like cowboys and watch the movie Young Guns?”

(Or at least that’s how I think this Achievement went down. It’s been on the list for so many years and I’m getting old and honestly I’m not quite sure of anything anymore.)

So, one September evening, we decided to finally give this a shot.

Because it’s us, we couldn’t just dress up like cowboys while we watched this movie. We had to make cowboy food as well. After some quick internet research, we decided that cowboy food consisted of pork chops, baked beans, and bacon. Husband was so into this Achievement that he wore his cowboy outfit while cooking the beans.

And of course, our little one wanted to get involved.

(Perhaps ‘wanted’ is not the correct word, but she did get involved nonetheless.)

Overall, the movie was pretty good. It had an all-star cast, and I basically lived for the Kiefer Sutherland love story plot, a lot less for the peyote montage, and for the most part, I trusted no one. The movie was definitely much better than the baked beans. How do people eat those??
