We kicked off Restaurant Week tonight with a surprise choice after a last-minute Monday night reservation change and enjoyed dinner at a new French spot in the South Side, Bridge Ten Brasserie. Continue reading

Kicking Pittsburgh Restaurant Week Off In Style
I can’t believe it – tomorrow is already the start of the 2013 Winter Pittsburgh Restaurant Week! It feels like it was just the summer celebration just a few weeks ago. But we are pumped to check out a bunch of spots this week, and we got even more excited for what is to come at last Thursday night’s Kick-Off Party. Continue reading

Treat Yourself Right At First Night With Sonoma Grille
Happy New Year, readers! We’ve got a list of 101 new Achievements for the Year of the Snake, some of which have made their way over here from the 2012 Achievements we didn’t quite get to, and some of which are all brand-new. To start the year off right, we attended Pittsburgh’s New Year celebration, First Night 2013. (Since we took so many pictures, I’ve divided First Night into two posts: today, our dinner, and tomorrow, I’ll post about the rest of the evening.) Continue reading

Miso & Wonton: Our DIY Asian Soup Tournament
Over the course of 2012, we ran what we called an ‘Asian Soup Tournament.’ I had planned on a Miso Soup Tournament, but since Michael is more of a wonton soup guy, we decided to include both soups on the list. Throughout the year, we hit the seven locations planned, and here are the results of the tournament! Continue reading

Delicious Eats In Pittsburgh’s Chinatown
When you think of the unique neighborhoods around the City of Pittsburgh, chances are there’s no ‘Chinatown’ that comes to mind. What you may not know about Pittsburgh, however, is that we once had a lively Chinatown district. We went downtown and visited what little that remains. Continue reading

The Covered Bridges Of Southwestern Pennsylvania
Before we lost the very last of the gorgeous fall foliage colors, we wanted to make our trek out to Washington County, PA for the covered bridge tour. Last year, we got our feet wet with the smaller, 4-bridge, Eastern tour, but this year, we went for broke, taking on the 13 bridges and 89 miles of the Southwest Covered Bridge Tour. Continue reading

Seeing Swallow Falls State Park In Deep Creek
While I think I’ll always be a winter gal at heart, some years, fall just sneaks right up the season chart and threatens to steal the top spot. Depsite the early-feeling autumn, this is one of those years. And so we decided, what better time to FINALLY cross off our Achievement to visit Swallow Falls State Park (which has only been on the list since 2010 haha). Continue reading

In Which We Photobomb Nature
While we are the sort of couple who enjoys a nice, classy dinner with a fancy bottle of wine, we are also the sort of couple who, from time to time, rewatches old skits from Saturday Night Live and then reenacts them as if they really happened to us. I mean, mostly the thing about the nice bottles of wine, but… sometimes, we just can’t help it. Digital Shorts happen. Continue reading
